The Giving Experiment Gallery

Community

There is a regional tradition of the Tzu'tujil people here in San Juan and neighboring San Pedro that we have been taught. When passing an elder, someone old enough to have white hair, children and adults alike are to reach out and hold the hand of their elder and sing "Taa" (for grandfathers) and "Naan" (for grandmothers). The back of the hand is then to be kissed before moving on. We are thankful to be in such a place that values the young and cherishes the old.
